The term of validity for use of the downloaded data is one year. The right to use the data terminates after one year, counting from the day the data is supplied. Upon termination of the data use right, the user is required to erase the data from computer system. The user must reapply in order to continue the use of data. See the 'Rules and regulations' of EASSDA. * The user must acknowledge, in any publication, the original data creators and the data service provider, EASSDA. * The user may not utilize the EASS data to obtain or derive information relating specifically to an individual, organization, or institution. The user may not provide the data in parts or in whole to any third party without the consent of EASSDA. |

The datasets are available to download in SPSS and STATA(often suitable for use in Excel) formats and can also be requested in other formats such as SAS. |

The finalization of data archiving procedures for each module should be done within two years after the fielded year. The EASSDA is expected to provide the scientific community with completely combined and harmonized datasets. The time that such datasets are publicly available is decided by the majority decision in the General Meeting. EASSDA has recently released the 2006 EASS data from China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The integrated file of EASS 2006 "Family in East Asia" was published January 1st 2009, and is available after submitting "Data Request Form" on the website. When the end of 2010, EASSDA will release the integrated file of 2008 EASS data from China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. |

Since its appearance in 2004, the EASS has finished its first topical module The 2006 Family module dataset from the four societies, in particular, is currently in the process of harmonization and integration with a view to be archived and released to the scientific community by the end of 2008. Until now, the EASS authorized three modules namely family, culture, health and hearafter the EASS is planning to develop more modules. The EASS will conduct a survey including these modules by circulated cycle of every 10 years. |

The objective of EASSDA is to provide students and scholars in social science community with an integrated EASS data collected by participating institutions in China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Thus, EASSDA endeavors to enable comparative studies on specific topics unique among East Asian societies. |

Upon the unanimous consent of EASS-participating institutions, the central archive, called the EASSDA, is responsible for standardizing, archiving, and distributing the EASS datasets. At the 2008 meeting held in Tokyo, East Asian Social Survey Data Archive(EASSDA), established in academy of East Asian Studies at the SungKyunKwan University, was chosen as the 'Central Archive of EASS.' The task of EASSDA are to integrate, archive, check and maintain data and documentation of the EASS study modules and distribute them to the scientific community. * The official websites of the EASSDA(www.eassda.org) must be written in English and maintained on a regular basis. The websites must provide the detailed overview of data collection, procedures of data access, and descriptions of charge and registration issues. |

EASS(East Asian Social Survey) is a biennial social survey project that purports to produce and disseminate academic survey data sets in East Asia. As a cross-national network of GSS-type surveys, EASS is dedicated to the promotion of comparative studies on diverse aspects of social lives in East Asia. Launched in 2003, EASS is one of the few international social survey data collection efforts, and is truly unique for its East Asian focus. |
